Why do I need pet insurance?

Your pet is an important part of your family, and you want to keep them safe at all costs. Unfortunately, there’s no NHS for them, and they cannot speak for themselves. More than 4 million pets are protected by travel insurance in the UK, and the average claim value is increasing annually(1).

Whilst £848 is the average claim value, some conditions, treatments, and surgeries can easily increase into thousands of pounds(1):

  1. Broken leg (cat) - £2,000
  2. Gastroenteritis (dog) - £670
  3. Hip dysplasia (puppy) - £13,000

Remember, alongside vets’ fees, some pet insurance policies can cover much more. There’s cover out there for straying, theft, third party liability (dogs only), euthanasia, and even kennel or cattery costs.

Before purchasing pet insurance, make sure you know exactly what you’d like covered and check the policy information. The last thing you need is to be left paying thousands to care for your little loved ones.
