The Husky originates from the Chukchi Peninsula in eastern Siberia of North East Asia. The Chukchi people bred the dogs for both sled pulling and companionship. They were taken to None in Alaska in 1908 to work in the mining fields and help as sled dogs in expeditions through impassable terrain during the Nome Gold Rush.
